A Little About Myself
(The character Cyan from an upcoming collaborative project between my sister and I)
My name is David Wayne Barnett and my dream is to make a living as a writer. Growing up, I always found myself lost in stories; video games, books, movies, television, it didn't matter as long as it had a great and engaging story. As time went on, I found myself adding certain backstories and lore to stories that I felt needed "fleshing out", often without even realizing I was the one creating these new stories.
Eventually, I started using these ideas as inspiration for my own stories, though I didn't ever intend to share any of them. It wasn't until I realized how important my inspirations were to my happiness and sanity growing up that I realize how crucial it is for us to share our artistic creations. Even if our creation only impacts one person, that still one life that has been changed for the better. It became my dream to return that favor.
Of course, fiction is not the extent of my interests; anyone that knows me knows that I'm very outspoken when it comes to politics, social justice and philosophy. As strange as it might sound, writing professional essays and debates has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember. I believe that it's the duty of every American to make their voice heard and defend the downtrodden in this country. I also believe that it's crucial to objectively look at our own situation and recognize the things we take for granted.
